We just changed the outside lanterns at the Mayberry Manor – The Caudle Home Place. The new fixtures made a dramatic difference. The old lanterns were more efficient, as in giving more light, but the new ones supply the home with a little added charm. We hope you enjoy the before and after photos.

The before and after photos of Lady Bessie’s room reveals that it was used to store decorating items that may or may not be used in the house. It remained full of “stuff” for most of the project. Now, I can better imagine the beautiful Lady coming in to take her ritualistic afternoon nap in the big sleigh bed with the luxury bedding pulled up to her chin. Lady Bessie was the loveknot that held the Caudle family together. And she did it with grace, charm, and elegance. The Mayberry Manor is filled with memories of the great lady who, lived, loved, and labored there.

So much has happened since I started the makeover on my “Mayberry” (Mount Airy, NC) house. I’m glad I did it, but must admit that it was very difficult at times. She has been named The Mayberry Manor, but she is better known as the Caudle home place. To see the transformation unfold before your very eyes, please visit the Mayberry Manor page of this blog. I’m still amazed as I look back at the before photos, and I think you will be too.
